Several previews later and Michelle Williams finally unveils the full version of her new single ‘If We Had Your Eyes’. The cut, serving from her fourth solo album, is produced by Harmony Samuels. Michelle shows off her fuller, powerful voice as she sings about viewing life from a different perspective - from the eyes of God. Inspirational R&B works really well for Michelle. That is why it's a good thing she's making a transition back to her gospel roots with some old-school soul. Her dance-pop stuff wasn't bad at all but it just felt a tad bit contrived coming from her. This is authentic Michelle at best. ‘If We Had Your Eyes’ may not have much impact on the Hot 100 but it could do really well on urban formats.
