Lady Gaga was bankrupt after spending millions on 'Monster’s Ball' tour...

In 2009, the world was Lady Gaga's oyster. She dominated the scene with her break-out hit 'Just Dance' and the year before, she rocked the music industry with her debut album 'The Fame'. But despite all the successes, she found herself almost penniless.

Like how does the biggest pop star on the planet get so broke? And what sacrifice did she make to put it right?

In a sneak peek of the upcoming EPIX original documentary 'Who the F*ck is Arthur Fogel?', the singer admits she was left broke after spending her entire fortune on elaborate production during her 2009 'Monsters Ball' tour. In a clip, via Entertainment Tonight, she reveals:
"I had $3 million dollars in the bank to my name and I threw it all in to make my stage. I remember I went home and I was with my dad and he said, 'I don't understand. 'Bad Romance' is out. You are all over the radio. Everyone is talking about you and you don't have a pot to piss in.' I said, 'Just let me do this. Let me just put it on the stage because I think if I can do this I can get Arthur Fogel's attention.' And I did. I remember he called me and he said, 'We want to do this.' And he got Live Nation to write me a $40 million check. And it changed my life and the life of my whole family."
Fogel is the chairman of Live Nation's global touring division, and at that time he knew Gaga was at the top of her game. It would not have been hard for him to negotiate that sort of deal since she was one of the world's biggest lucrative-selling pop stars. It was certainly a gamble that paid off but one she knew she could afford to take.
