Linda Perry weighs in on Beyoncé's songwriting...

Unfortunately for Beyoncé, she has become the number one scapegoat when examples are used to discredit artists for ripping off the songwriter to gain (fraudulent) songwriting credits. During a Reddit Q&A about the singer's songwriting abilities, Linda Perry (who has written hit songs for Christina Aguilera, Celine Dion, and Pink) did not serve up the response that did Bey's credentials any good.
Beyhive will come hard for Linda. I don't doubt it. But let's not forget that this is the woman that wrote 'Beautiful,' one of the greatest pop ballads in recent times. Therefore, she is MORE THAN QUALIFIED to scorn at someone's writing abilities or lack thereof. Besides, it's not like she was malicious in her response despite the backhanded compliment. Check out Linda's response inside.
Linda, how do you feel about Beyonce changing one word on a song and getting writing credit. Does that bother you as a songwriter?

“Well hahaha um that's not songwriting, but some of these artists believe if it wasn't for them, your song would never get out there. So they take a cut just because they are who they are. Everyone knows the real truth even Beyoncé. She is talented but in a completely different way” (source.)
As for Beyoncé, she's just good at playing the game to ensure that financially, her well never runs dry. Daddy taught her well. Many people would probably have done the same given the chance. It doesn't make it right of course, but when your name wields the amount of limitless power that hers does, she can get away with practically anything.
