JLS lead singer Aston Merrygold signs solo record deal with Warner Bros...

As if we didn't see this one coming from the very start. Aston Merrygold has signed a new solo deal with Warner Bros. Records.

The music production and distribution label serves as an imprint of Warner Music Group and oversees releases by CeeLo Green, Lianne La Havas, Joss Stone, and more. He shared a photo on Instagram of him signing the contract with Warner Bros Records and celebrating.

The singer – who used to be a member of X Factor founding group JLS until their split in 2013 - is currently working on his upcoming solo debut album. He has posted a long caption to accompany the image, sharing his excitement and nerves for the future.
"Someone once told me enjoy every minute of it... I've known this day was coming for over a week and been fine, driven, motivated.. READY to just get working asap! But I've not actually sat back n enjoyed the thought of being signed to a record label on my own.. I was lucky enough to be apart of what I think is one of the best boy bands this country has ever produced! The best fans, the best team, the best band mates/brothers hands down! But I've had a dream since I was young watching my idols do there thing, there way and how they wanted and I can't believe I get a shot at that.. Everything outside and around me has changed but I'm still the same guy ready to give my new management team Craig, Vikki and all the guys at LOGAN MEDIA ENTERTAINMENT, my new record label Miles, joe, Phil and all the WARNER BROS MUSIC team, the WHOLE A TEAM, my family, friends, lovers, haters and most important you lot who have had my back from day dot starting in this industry.. I'm going to give you ALL I got! I feel so blessed to be in this position and I'm not going to waste it!!!!!! Get ready it's going to be a bumpy, but fun as hell ride! Ax (So fucking excited btw.)"
Interesting. His announcement comes on the very same day that his former JLS bandmate JB Gill announced that he is now a father to a baby boy with wife Chloe, making Aston the ONLY one in JLS childless. Marvin Humes and his wife Rochelle of The Saturdays had a baby girl last year. And Oritse Williams welcomed a baby boy with girlfriend AJ Azari last month. Meanwhile, Aston has already documented studio time with Harvey Mason Jr (of The Underdogs), Kevin McCall, Lil’ Eddie and Dem Jointz. So it looks like he may very well be chasing that American urban sound. I'm actually here for it as not much could be said for the music he did with JLS. However, only time will tell.
