Serial delays aside, R&B chanteuse Ashanti is not giving up on her forthcoming album ‘Braveheart’. She drops a new single called ‘Never Should Have’, and with a title like that, she definitely leaves herself open to jokes and ridicule. But nevertheless, are we feeling it? Over a demanding drum beat, Ashanti gets emotionally connected about a past relationship gone wrong (could it be a nod to her break-up with Nelly?). The heartfelt ballad may sound like a Leona Lewis/ Jordin Sparks outtake but at least it has... serious cross-over appeal and a stunning vocal delivery. Sadly for her, going the pop route was always bound to happen at some point especially with previous R&B offerings failing to chart on the Billboard Hot 100. Can this be the track to see her get a foot back in? You decide.
