Over the weekend, former pop singer Samantha Mumba unveiled her brand new single 'Somebody Like Me'. She debuted it on an Irish show called ‘The Hit’, where songwriters pitch their tracks to established artists who then choose one track to release that they feel will be a hit - hence, the title. The now married singer, who once dominated the early 2000s with 'Gotta Tell You' and five other UK top 10's, belted out the track in an embellished silver sequin gown and looked stunning.
Unfortunately, the song does absolutely nothing for my ears. It's a snooze-fest with an overly repetitive chorus but at least her vocals still sound nice. The track, written by Liz Seaver, is a heartbreaking piano-led ballad which sees Samantha confronting an unfaithful lover. The track is currrently available to download on iTunes now.
