Director of ❝The Little Mermaid❞ addresses Halle Bailey’s racial backlash...

'The Little Mermaid' director addresses the racist backlash Halle Bailey has received as Ariel. Rob Marshall stresses that there was "no agenda" with the casting stating that they were just "looking for the best actor for the role, period. The end." He adds, "We saw everybody and every ethnicity. The goal was to find someone who can be incredibly strong, passionate, beautiful, smart, clever… And, of course, she had to be able to sing." Halle had the best voice in that audition room. Luckily, Marshall was able to embrace that and look past race.

The film hits theatres in May, 2023.

Much like Whitney Houston in The Bodyguard, I truly believe Halle Bailey's voice can sell this movie 🎬 After seeing her perform "Can You Feel The Love Tonight", I've been SOLD on her ever since!
