This week, Normani unlocked her new single, “Candy Paint,” lifted off her forthcoming debut solo album, “Dopamine”, out June 14th via RCA Records. “Candy Paint” follows “1:59” featuring Gunna, which Normani dropped in April. The upbeat summer anthem was written and produced by Normani alongside Brittanny “Starrah” Hazzard and Tommy Brown.
“Candy Paint” is cute for what it is. A bit basic and demo-ish, but cute. However, a proper bridge and a harder knock to the production is severely lacking. Weirdly enough, the snippet (which has been floating around for the past two years now) had a harder bassline as opposed to the full song, which seems to have been stripped of that. While the song has potential, it doesn't really go anywhere.

I have yet to be blown away by anything this girl has released.
Normani should have dropped her album, with candy paint/Video ALL at the same time. I'm afraid the album is going to perform very badly, judging by her last 2 singles.
Agree Toyaz.. The whole album has been retooled and lost it's hard bass and urban flair. Candy Paint has been teased so long, we all expected an uptempo banger. Instead it sounds like a kid's ProTools project for A-level music. There's no build up or pay off
