Mariah Carey for Billboard.

Mimi's Christmas takeover continues
It's been a jam-packed week for Mariah Carey, and there's lots more to come. With 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' topping the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time in 25 years, it was only inevitable that she would eventually land herself a Billboard cover.

The accompanying interview is basically about how much she loves the traditions of Christmas and why it means so much to her. We know she goes to snowy Aspen every year and energizes the use of Santa and real life reindeers. Having a mom like Mariah during the most festive period of the year sounds like pure magic. But then, they don't call her the Queen of Christmas for no reason.

MC also comments on 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' breaking Spotify’s record for most streams in 24 hours: “People want to say, ‘She’s a physical [albums] artist. She doesn’t understand or know [streaming] — Then why did the song break the record for most streamed song within one day?”

Probably because it's become the Christmas anthem of ALL Christmas anthems, and most of us love Christmas, including the streamers generation? I love Mariah but she should not get too ahead of herself over one Christmas song. Figures actually DO show that in general she's in fact "a physical [albums] artist." It is why her latest album 'Caution' debuted with 43,000 in pure sales and 51,000 with SPS. If only 8,000 came from SPS, this would imply that Mariah is not a powerful streaming force by any means. Sorry, Mimi.

Anyway, the interview comes with a video of MC taking a nostalgic trip down memory lane:
She had some very memorable visuals back then. 'Heartbreaker' will always be a personal favourite of mine!

Mariah also continued her daily Christmas takeover of 'The Late Late Show With James Corden' with a performance of 'Christmas Time Is In the Air Again':
That breathy vocal prowess suited the song, and she was serving live vocals too. She did well with this performance. And with just hours to go for the video premiere, 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' is also projected to spend a second consecutive week at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, based on early predictions.
