Mariah Carey reflects on 'Caution' era; says pandemic helped her voice.

Mariah Carey had quite the chat with Roots drummer Ahmir Thompson on his Questlove Supreme podcast, which dropped earlier today. Part 2 will be released Friday!

With the pandemic putting many people out of work, Mariah says she was able to rest her voice.
.
When asked about recording a new album, she speaks on doing a new approach following the "rushed" pacing of her last album 'Caution.' She admits to not giving her best performance vocally and wishes she had more time to record additional songs for the project! Dear sweet Mimi, never shade 'Caution.' It was a thoroughly enjoyable record, even with all that clogged up vocal suppression.

I have all of MCs albums. Caution is the only album I rarely listen to. There were no gems. There were no powerhouse vocals. There were no emotional ballads. I simply could not connect with the project. I think The Elusive... set the bar for me and Caution did not live up to it. I’d also like MC to do something out the box...a duet album, different genre, something just unexpected. The same formula isn’t working.

That’s such a bizarre statement as Caution saw her take musical risks she hadn’t before. Nothing in her catalogue sounds like “Giving me life” or “GTFO”, she worked with new people like Skrillex, Blood Orange, nineteen85 etc Yes I agree with her about the vocals and you about lack of ballads but as far as a solid album ‘Caution’ was one of the best r n b offerings that year. Also although I love some doings on ... The elusive chanteuse the altered vocals ruined it.

None of you, Toya included, have listened to the interview. It's not what she said there. She just reflects on the fact that nowaday artist don't have any time they need to put out the record. Any by no means there is nothing of her saying covid time helped her voice. Stop reposting from other sites without having checked the info.

@mimi - it clearly states "taking time off work (owing to covid) helped my voice". Get out of her ass.

Fail she did say that I listened to the whole thing last night. She said due to COVID she’s not been touring or working much and it’s helped her voice and she did say she likes some songs in Caution but wasn’t happy with the final project as she doesn’t feel it was finished. What was your point?

I loved how chatty she was. You could tell she was really enjoying talking technical details. Like she found her crowd. Can't wait for part 2!

This whole interview part 1 and 2 was sooo real! Reminding me of mariah en wendy ‘s interview during teom. This is the Mariah that People rarely get to see or hear.

Especially talking to him this brought out great stories! They could go on forever! It all depends on the person she is talking to ...
