Normani & Tinashe cover Allure & Notion magazine, respectively...

Normani tells the September issue of Allure that she “didn’t really get to sing” in Fifth Harmony. Apparently, she had to “know her place” after racist abuse and comparisons with the other members "took a toll" on her confidence. Now dripping in confidence, she says, "There's so much that [Black women are] capable of doing. Yes, I can throw ass. But I can also give you a proper eight-count. If I want to sing this pop ballad, then you're going to love it! While you see my Black face!" She goes on to say she's “reinventing,” herself, and adds, “Now you all are finally going to be able to see me tap into that awareness — that I know I’m the shit.”

For someone who has yet to release an actual album, Normani sure is confident, and overly so. She's not yet reached that level of impact in musical ascendancy to be throwing out such bold statements. Tinashe on the other hand has made some power moves to fight her way out of record label mayhem (something Normani is currently going through right now). She discusses the creativity behind new album '333' in the latest issue of Notion. Check out both of their features below.

Someone is definitely overcompensating for some deep rooted insecurity, and I hate that it’s coming off so arrogantly so early in their career.

I personally don't think you can be overconfident in your beliefs about your talents. Black people, and women even moreso, have been silenced and told we're not good enough for far too long. I'm only 1/4 black but I'm still black as far as I'm concerned. More power to her I say, let the girl have her moment.

Normani is not new to the industry. She’s done things that most of her peers can only dream of. I don’t see it as being arrogant. She’s just telling the truth, who is better than her in this new era?

I see what you’re saying Toya. Normani is most definitely gorgeous and a excellent dancer, but she hasn’t really carved out her own lane or created a sound of her own. If she doesn’t soon I think she should maybe try acting. I will say that Wild Side is a step up from Motivation IMO 🤷🏾‍♂️
