Leigh-Anne Pinnock signs major solo deal with Warner Records...

This week, Warner Records confirms Leigh-Anne Pinnock has signed a solo deal with their label after her band Little Mix announced their hiatus last year. The record label is also home to the likes of Dua Lipa, Saweetie and Ed Sheeran.
The 30-year-old mother of two is reportedly set to work with Little Mix collaborator MNEK on her new record. But before getting to work on her solo music, she has been enjoying a sunshine break in Jamaica recently posting a series of bikini-clad photos to Instagram. Though not the strongest singer, Leigh-Ann is a beautiful girl who certainly knows how to work a stage. With the right songs, there's no reason why she can't at least be the black version of non-singing Cheryl Cole.

We gotta give Leigh more props than a comparison to Cheryl. She's not a power house like Perrie, but she's far from a weak singer, way better than Cheryl.

What RL said - I'm tired of the 'Leigh-Anne's a weak singer' narrative when all of the Little Mix girls have hit their fair share of bum notes. It's no surprise that when she finally spoke out about feeling invalidated in the group, the consistency of her live performances got better, not just because she 'improved'. She's had shining moments from the jump that people have chosen to overlook.

Saying she's not the 'strongest' singer is unmerited when she can outsing every member of the Spice Girls, The Saturdays, Sugababes and Girls Aloud combined, yet I don't remember anyone in those girl groups getting as much flack for their (lack of) vocal abilities. Pre-blackfishing, Jesy was always praised for hitting a high note when most of the time she sounded breathless and warbly.

IMO, it isn't just racism Leigh-Anne has to deal with, but pure hateration. Don't shoot the messenger.

@Anon - that's a pretty big comparative statement. I'm not familiar with Leigh-Anne's vocal talent, honestly couldn't tell one LM member's voice apart from the other, but I know the Spice Girls were all very distinctive-sounding, and Mel C was a very strong vocalist. I'd even give Emma Bunton vocal props, too.

I'll extend that to Sugababes too - just watched a montage of Leigh-Anne's so-called "Best vocals" to inform my comment, and there's no way in he'll based on what I just heard that I'd say she can outsing keisha of Sugababes, yet alone all of the members of those groups combined! I'd probably put her above Victoria Beckham at best 😂

@Remmi - I take your point about Keisha and Mel C who I agree are great singers, and I'll throw in Nadine from Girls Aloud and Vanessa from The Saturdays for good measure. With the exception of Girls Aloud, I'm a fan of all the girl groups I mentioned so it's no shade on my part.

That said, I'll use this to inform my point: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMJK5bK5RQg. Granted it's a recording, but still proves she deserves more credit than she gets, and that she can carry a solo song better than most would assume. Miles ahead of Victoria Beckham, Cheryl et al.

Well, I couldn't disagree on Cheryl as again I'm not over-familiar with Leigh-Anne's vocals, and I was just being facetious comparing her to Victoria. Credit where it's due I guess and I wish her all the best in her solo career. If the songs are good, I don't really think vocal ability matters much anyway.

Leigh-Anne vocals were consider weak compared to Perrie but she’s far from being a “weak” singer! She can def blow when she needs to and she has a decent range unlike Cheryl who makes Britney sound like Whitney Houston in comparison! Jessy voice sounds really weak without the other girls voices carrying her however that’s a different topic lol
