New Music: Mariah Carey debuts new single + Trey Songz assisted remix for 'You're Mine'...

On first listen, second listen and further listens, 'You're Mine (Eternal)' sounds like a very typical Mariah Carey record. In fact, I immediately got 'We Belong Together' vibes from it combined with 'Like You'll Never See Me Again' (Alicia Keys). Something about those bells actually rings a bell. The transitioning from belting voice to whistle register was a smooth process, and those piano riffs are mesmerizing. Mariah's ballads often have pretty melodies, but the problem here is... this one is tooooo safe. It's a good song but no creative risks were taken. At least with '#Beautiful', it was on different ground. Will it be a #1 smash? Probably not. But she said it herself, any music she puts out now is only for her and the fans.
