Ashanti talks sexual harrassment on 'The Breakfast Club'

Sexual harassment and assault accusations have been sweeping the entertainment industry lately. Ashanti opens up about her own experiences during a visit to 'The Breakfast Club.'
She reveals:
“I was in a situation where this producer, who’s super dope, super talented, has a gazillion No. 1s, he was trying to take me out. He said ‘If we do this and we go out... I’ma give you all of this for free.’ I’m just like, ‘What? Son. That’s never gonna happen.’ So, then he’s like, ‘Alright. I need $45,000 for this one, $50[,000] for this one.’ What? He didn’t understand that I had a bunch of big brothers at the time. You know. Had to get handled. That’s moved on now but it happened.”
I'm sure most of you have heard the term "f*cking for tracks," which is actually common practice in the music industry. It has long been rumoured that Ashanti slept with her former Murda Inc boss Irv Gotti, a rumour she fiercely denies. I always found it interesting that she was the only R&B artist signed to his label, and then he was bigging her up to be the Princess of R&B which infuriated Aaliyah fans. Remember, all this was taking place a few months after she had passed. He was like her personal PR machine, so people believed their relationship had moved beyond professional. Regardless of how she made it, Ashanti has proven her own merits as a songwriter, producer and artist throughout a career spanning 15 years. And even though she's not selling records like she use to, she continues to do well for herself.
