When a Beyoncé project finally wins an Emmy... but it doesn’t go to her...

The Emmys officially hate Beyoncé. Now it makes total sense why her mom popped off a few weeks ago. Don't get me wrong, Beyoncé doesn't need an Emmy to validate her. However, she certainly deserved at least one in her career. And when a Beyoncé project finally does win an Emmy it’s for freaking costumes.

Her 'Black Is King' won the Emmy award for "Outstanding Costumes for a Variety, Nonfiction or Reality Program." Unfortunately, this Emmy will not go to Beyoncé. The award is credited to costume designer Zerina Akers and costume supervisor Timothy White. The Emmys know exactly what they’re doing when ensuring Beyoncé’s projects win in categories where she won’t be eligible to claim the win.

Though the music itself may have left much to be desired, the visuals were still a work of art. The Emmys pulled the same bullsh*t two years ago when Carpool Karaoke won the Emmy over Beyoncé's 'Homecoming.' A colossal scandal. They even showed their asses further when they awarded a false (and rather damaging) documentary (produced by a white man) about Michael Jackson. 'Black Is King' and 'Homecoming' are both unapologetically black, and the Emmys have reacted to that by being very passive aggressive with their blatant racism.

Why did you highlight that the MJ doc was produced by a white man?

For emphasis. I'm highlighting the systematic racism. A doc produced by a white man full of (evidenced) falsehoods on a black man's character versus a positive doc produced by a black woman embracing her culture.

Which one is most likely to get shunned?

I dont know why you hated Lion King: The Gift so much Toya. There was some great tracks on there. Bigger, Otherside, Brown skin girl and My Power to name a few. It was a beautiful celebration of the motherland sounds and i rate Beyonce for her integrity in giving it a platform over more popular sounds. Just seems odd for a fan and advocate of urban sounds and music of black origins to rubbish such a critically acclaimed piece of work at every given opportunity and then gas up derivative, generic artistry like Britney Spears' Glory. Baffling.

Everyone is entitled to their preferences, and The Gift isn't her best work in my opinion. Just because I feel this way does not make me less a fan of urban music. I think that's really unfair of you to come to that assumption, because some artists produce great albums and some don't. I'm not entitled to like every album just because it is "urban."

Ah ok, fair enough. Yes I see your point.

PS I agree, I thought the album was awful, so much so I didn’t listen to most of it. I only like Key to the Kingdom by Tiwa Savage. I didn’t get the storytelling of the film, so gave up watching halfway through. I might try again in the distant future.

Re the MJ doc, I found it captivating. Award-winning? I don’t know, I don’t care enough about the requirements of TV and movie awards to give an educated opinion about it. I will say that there appeared to be just as much evidence that stacked up as evidence that didn’t. I don’t believe in smoke without fire, especially when similarities present themselves time and time again. But if someone is going to make such public damning allegations about another person’s character, that person needs to have the right to reply, ie when they’re alive.

There are "situations" pertaining to the doc that I will never agree with or deem as normal. I'm not completely blind sighted just because I'm a fan. I totally respect the opinions of those who think he's guilty. My main issue really is (as you say) they waited until he passed away to make such damning allegations as they were adults when he was still alive. It just comes across as disingenuous and a play to squeeze millions out of his estate.
