It is always a moment when an underrated Mariah Carey song gets major social media love over a decade later. And in this case it's her throwback song ❝It’s a Wrap❞ getting its turn in receiving the ❝Glitter❞ treatment. It has never been my favorite song off 2009’s ❝Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel.❞ In fact, there have been stronger contenders if the Lambily really wanted to finally give an older song some recognition. But the main thing is that they took a vintage MC song and turned it into something fun. And in times like this we need fun because of the struggles surrounding our shrinking economy, rampant inflation and skyrocketing cost of living. Mariah's ❝It’s a Wrap❞ TikTok challenge has given the song a massive streaming boost! As of early February, it attracted more than one million weekly streams prompting Mariah to release a new EP celebrating the throwback cut becoming a viral hit.
The four-track project contains the original album cut from 2009’s ❝Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel❞ and the Mary J. Blige-assisted remix originally included as a bonus track on 2014’s ❝Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse.❞ Also included is the TikTok-friendly sped-up version and a new three-minute edit of the song.
