American Idol is officially ending...

Fox waited long enough...
It’s an end of an era. Fox has confirmed that Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr, as well as host Ryan Seacrest, will return next year for the 15th and final season of American Idol.  The once-blockbuster talent show, which launched the careers of Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson, has seen its core audience deterioriate.

The show should have ended at season five. Yet, they chose to let it drag on until it just couldn't be milked anymore.

I can't say I will miss the show, although I appreciate the earlier talent it produced in the golden days. They simply don't make superstars like Kelly and Carrie anymore and they had some good albums. Fantasia's debut was nice also. Now their winners never make it past album one, and find themselves dropped prematurely. Past contestants and judges will also come back for the final season of American Idol. Another Simon Cowell show that needs the plug pulled is UK's X Factor. Stop trying to save a show that is already dead.
